INSTALL

1. Open the DMG file.
2. Drag "Local Shorts Studio Commercial.app" to "Applications".
3. Open the app from Applications.

IF MACOS SAYS THE APP IS FROM AN UNIDENTIFIED DEVELOPER

1. Try to open the app once.
2. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security.
3. Scroll to the security message for Local Shorts Studio Commercial.
4. Click "Open Anyway".
5. Open the app again and confirm.

FIRST RUN

1. Open the Setup tab.
2. Click "Run Full Setup".
3. Wait until the setup is fully finished. Do not close the app during setup.
4. When setup finishes, check these statuses:

• FFmpeg: Installed
• Python + Whisper: Installed
• Project Folder Access (TCC): Access granted
• Main App Installation: Running from /Applications

PROJECT FOLDER ACCESS (TCC)

1. In Setup, click "Check/Grant Project Folder Access".
2. Choose your real project folder when macOS asks.
3. Grant access.
4. Make sure Setup shows:

"Access granted | Project folder access is available"

IMPORTANT

• Always wait for the full setup to finish before using the app.
• If setup is interrupted, open Setup and run it again.

This handbook explains the app in practical, non-technical language.

It is written for creators, editors, and managers who need reliable output without deep technical setup.

1. What this app is for

Shorts Clipper Studio helps you turn long-form video into short, captioned clips.

Main goals:

• Import local videos or YouTube links
• Transcribe and segment content
• Select/highlight meaningful parts automatically
• Edit clip timing and captions
• Export shorts in chosen aspect ratio
• Optionally upload finished clips to YouTube

The app is designed as an end-to-end local pipeline (FFmpeg + Whisper locally), with optional AI text helpers for metadata and titles.

2. Typical workflow

Most users follow this order:

1. Setup (first use or when fixing environment)
2. Projects (create/open project and choose source)
3. Queue (monitor processing)
4. Exports (review/edit/rerender/export)
5. Publish (upload selected rendered clips to YouTube)
6. Presets and Settings (style and advanced behavior)

For advanced caption cutting on raw timelines:

• Use RawCaptions

For separate extraction tasks:

• Use Extract

• Presets: caption style design and preset library
• Projects: source input + project create/edit/open
• Queue: job state, retries, debug, clip groups
• Publish: YouTube uploader for rendered clips
• RawCaptions: marker-based subtitle and timeline editor
• Extract: extract captions/audio from local file or YouTube

4. Setup tab (required foundation)

Use Run Full Setup on first launch.

What Setup checks/installs

• FFmpeg (render engine)
• Python + Whisper (speech-to-text)
• Project folder access permissions (macOS)
• Optional install state in /Applications

Core setup actions

• Refresh Status: re-scan current setup state
• Run Full Setup: full automatic setup
• Reinstall Full: full reinstall/repair

FFmpeg section

• Install FFmpeg

• Uninstall (Safe) (wizard-managed install only)

Python + Whisper section

• Install Python + Whisper
• Reinstall
• Uninstall (Safe)

Live action output. Use this for diagnostics if anything fails.

5. Projects tab (project source and configuration)

This is where each production project is created and loaded.

5.1 Input Source block

Fields and controls:

• Local Video + Pick Video
• Generate (Auto)
• YouTube URL + Download + Generate
• Attach Subtitle (.srt) Optional + Pick SRT + Clear
• Burn captions to video automatically on generate (checkbox)

Behavior:

• If SRT is attached, transcription may be skipped and that SRT is used.
• Local and YouTube source modes are both supported.

5.2 Create or Edit Project block

Fields:

• Project Name
• Project Folder
• Output Folder
• Project Preset

Buttons:

• Create Project
• Save Edits
• Create Shorts (create/generate using selected preset flow)
• Open Project Folder (opens active project in Finder)

Saved project persistence

For each project, the app saves and restores:

• Local Video path
• YouTube URL
• Optional attached SRT path
• Project Name
• Project Folder
• Output Folder
• Project Preset

So when you reopen a project, fields are repopulated automatically.

Saved Projects panel

• Open/Active
• Delete (removes app record; does not forcibly delete all media unless explicitly handled)

6. Queue tab (pipeline monitoring and recovery)

Queue shows what is running and what failed/completed.

Top counters:

• Queued
• Running
• Completed

Top controls:

• Refresh Jobs

• Clear All Debug
• Refresh Clips

Per-job actions:

• Cancel
• Restart
• Regenerate Missing
• Delete Rendered

Pipeline Debug panel

Shows per job:

• Provided SRT (yes/no)
• Word timing count
• Target clip count
• Produced clip count
• Original duration
• Elapsed time

Useful for identifying where a job failed: input, transcription, selection, or render.

Clip Gallery panel

Grouped by project clip folders.

Features:

7. Exports tab (final editorial pass)

Use Exports for final QC and output.

Main areas:

• Clip Preview

• Snap start/end to word timing

8. Presets tab (caption styling)

Build reusable caption style presets.

You can configure:

• Font family and size
• Text/outline colors
• Background box and opacity
• Caption width and position
• Offsets X/Y
• Animation type/intensity
• Text case
• Karaoke options

Also includes render/language context controls such as aspect ratio and transcription settings.

Preset operations:

• Save new preset
• Update selected preset
• Reload preset
• Load/delete saved presets

9. RawCaptions tab (marker/timeline editing)

For advanced clipping from raw captions/timestamps.

Main blocks:

• Source Video + SRT loading
• SRT Content editor
• Preview with optional caption display
• Timeline Markers table
• Export mode (shorts by markers or full)

Capabilities:

• Apply SRT to timeline
• Add markers manually
• Set selected start/end from preview time
• Save adjusted marker ranges
• Enforce max segment duration
• Export with or without burned captions
• Use caption style preset for export

10. Extract tab (Extract Captions & Audio)

This tab is for standalone extraction tasks.

Inputs

• Source Type (Local File / YouTube URL)
• Local media path + Pick (for local mode)
• YouTube URL (for YouTube mode)
• Output Folder + Pick

Options

• Extract Captions (SRT, TXT, JSON)
• Extract Audio
• Audio format: WAV or MP3

Progress and notifications

• Live progress bar while processing
• Status text (starting/downloading/extracting/transcribing/completed)
• Error notification if extraction fails

Result list

After extraction, files appear in a results table with:

• Type
• File name
• Duration (if available)
• Actions:
• Open
• Listen (audio playback)

11. Publish tab (YouTube uploader)

Publish uploads rendered clips to YouTube.

Main controls:

• Refresh Projects
• Load Playlists
• Project selector
• Playlist selector

Metadata tools:

• Edit clip title/description before upload
• Apply description to all clips in project
• AI title suggestions (based on transcript where available)

14. Troubleshooting quick guide

A) “No FFmpeg with subtitles filter found”

• Open Setup
• Run Reinstall Full
• Confirm FFmpeg status is installed and caption-capable

B) YouTube download fails (yt-dlp errors)

• Re-run setup
• Retry from Projects tab
• Check URL validity and network

C) Caption burn result looks wrong

• Verify selected preset in Exports/RawCaptions
• Save caption edits before burn
• Rerender after preset change

D) Pick buttons do not respond

• Retry after app restart
• Confirm app has folder/file access permissions
• Use Setup -> folder access check

E) Upload says success but appears on wrong channel

• Re-check OAuth credentials in Settings
• Ensure token belongs to target channel account

15. Best practices

• Create one project per content source/topic.
• Keep project and output folders organized before generating clips.
• Save presets with clear names (format + style + position).
• Review clips in Exports before publishing.
• Keep logs for failed jobs to accelerate support.

16. Safety and responsibility notes

• You are responsible for usage rights of source videos/audio.
• For YouTube uploads, follow YouTube Terms and copyright policies.
• AI text suggestions should be reviewed before publishing.
